Prenatal Microbial

Prenatal microbial cells before journey

Insemination: [1620s, "to cast as seed," from inseminatus, past participle of Latin inseminare "to sow, implant,"]

Dandelion seeds shot in studio with strobes while dragging the shutter. We dropped the objects through a ring light on a 2 second exposure while i tripped the strobes manually half way through. I wanted the seeds to keep that feeling of flight but be frozen in their fall. The intention was always to work them heavily in post. I experimented with various techniques until i got the effect you see here.

Shot on the Nikon D850 with the Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens. All manipulation done in ACR and Photoshop.
